First Trailer For Michael Winterbottom's Trishna, Starring Freida Pinto

Since first arriving on the scene in 2008's Slumdog Millionaire, we've had a pretty terrible Freida Pinto shortage, but this year the actress is making up for it by appearing in a film every couple of weeks. Back in March, Pinto starred as the titular heroine in Julian Schnabel's Miral and a couple of weeks ago she appeared amongst the primate chaos of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. If you think she's done with 2011, however, you're way off. We've already seen her in trailers for Tarsem Singh's Immortals and now the first look at Michael Winterbottom's Trishna has been released online. Check it out.

An adaptation of Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles set in India, the film sees Pinto star as the titular Trishna, who falls in love with a British businessman named Jay Singh(Riz Ahmed). Though she cares for Jay deeply, she finds herself torn between the modern world and the traditions of her family. The film is scheduled to have its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, but doesn't yet have a release date in the United States.
