With blockbusters like Star Trek Into Darkness and Man of Steel, the year at the movies in 2013 featured plenty of large scale destruction, but by the time January 1, 2015 rolls around I'm willing to be that it won't hold a candle to 2014. Not only do we have a new Michael Bay Transformers movie on the way, but Gareth Edwards' Godzilla will be stomping its way into theaters this summer as well, and from the look of this brand new international trailer it looks like he will be leaving quite a big mess behind him.
This new trailer is admittedly very similar to the domestic one that was released last month, but if you watch closely enough and really pay attention you'll notice that there is definitely some fresh footage in this latest cut. Bryan Cranston's line about not being crazy and needing to find evidence to prove it is definitely new:
As is the scene with Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen on the couch...
And the shot of Ken Watanabe delivering his monologue on some kind of army base.
For comparison purposes you can watch the previously-released preview below.
Based on a script by Max Borenstein that will hopefully wipe away all memory of the Roland Emmerich disaster from 1998, the new film is set in modern times as the great King of the Monsters once again rises from beneath the ocean to unleash massive destruction... and perhaps even save humanity from something even worse. In addition to all of the talented stars mentioned earlier, the impressive cast also includes Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, and David Strathairn.
Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures will be releasing the film right at the start of the blockbuster season on May 16th. Are you properly excited yet?
