Any great story of good versus evil needs its villain, and while The Hunger Games will see young Katniss going up against a variety of other tributes as she attempts to survive the games and make it out of the arena alive, the true villain of Suzanne Collins’ story is the oppressive government, the Capitol, and its leader, President Snow.
Based on a series of novels by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games is set in the future in the fictional nation of Panem, and stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, a teen who is set to represent her district in an annual fight to the death game called The Hunger Games.
A new still for The Hunger Games made its way online recently. This one features Donald Sutherland as President Snow. He’s standing at a podium, looking stern and sporting a maroon suit with his signature white rose at his lapel.
Regardless of the good or evilness of the role, you can’t really go wrong with Donald Sutherland. He certainly looks like he’s embracing the part of the ruthless leader, with the creased brow and stern, borderline scary expression on his face.
?While the source material has already set The Hunger Games up to be one of the more anticipated movies this year, the cast certainly doesn’t hurt. Sutherland and Lawrence are joined by Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Isabelle Fuhrman, and Lenny Kravitz.
The Hunger Games hits theaters on March 23. More photos, videos and information can be found in our Blend Film Database.
