Jason Statham Protects A 12-Year-Old Girl In First Trailer For Safe

Chris Sarandon has played some extremely awesome villains in the past. Two of my favorites, in particular, are Prince Humperdinck from The Princess Bride and Jerry Dandrige from the original Fright Night. But while Cary Elwes was pretty handy with a sword and William Ragsdale wasn't a bad vampire hunter, it's hard to say how either character would fare against the power that is Jason Statham. It looks like we'll have to wait until March to see how things turn out in Safe.
The first trailer for the Boaz Yakin-directed film has arrived online. Check it out below, courtesy of Yahoo!
This basically looks like just another movie where Jason Statham goes around beating the hell out of bad guys, and in no way is that a complaint. I'm just waiting for the movie that has the action star standing in a long hallway filled with bad guys that he spends 90 minutes decimating (a la Oldboy). You and I both know that everybody would show up for that one.
In Safe, Statham stars as Luke Wright a former cop who is forced to protect a young genius against the forces of the Triad, the Russian mafia and a sea of corrupt cops. In addition to Statham and Chris Sarandon, the movie also stars James Hong, Reggie Lee, Robert John Burke and Anson Mount. The film hits theaters on March 2, 2012, and for more about the movie be sure to head over to our Blend Film Database.
