Mark Millar's Superman Not Happening

The question of what to do with the Man of Steel remains unresolved. Last fall comic book writer Mark Millar was talking about his ideas for a three-part trilogy about the superhero, but now it seems the studios aren't as interested in Millar's idea as they would need to be to shovel a ton of money into it.

Collider came across a message from Millar, originally posted at his website, that says Warner Bros. wasn't all that keen on his pitch. "Things seem to be in stasis right now. As far as I understand, nothing is happening with Superman at the moment and so the director and I are just working on another project."

The news is pretty unsurprising, given that a three-part epic about Superman is pretty much what no one needs right now. So will Millar scale down his ambitions and try again? Or, as he says on the site, just work on other stuff for now? Personally I'd rather see him stay away from Supes-- what the series really seems to need is not an ambitious re-imagining, but a solid and traditional superhero movie with a little more juice than Bryan Singer's version.
