Marley Shelton, Adam Brody And Erik Knudsen Join Scream 4

Earlier tonight it was reported that Lauren Graham, of Bad Santa and Gilmore Girls fame, has dropped out of Wes Craven's Scream 4 due to “due to date conflict and script changes.” But while losing one is bad, gaining three is quite nice, and that's just what the production has done. THR is reporting that Adam Brody, Marley Shelton and Erik Knudsen have joined the cast. In the film, Brody will play a young cop "who was raised on the CSI TV series;" Shelton will play a deputy who knew Neve Campbell's character back in high school, a part originally considered by Lake Bell; and Knudsen will play the comic relief character much like Jamie Kennedy did in the first three films.
It's never a good sign when actors drop out of a film due to issues with the script (whatever they may be), but Craven's newest film does still have some of the better young talent working today. The first two films were great because they poked fun at the conventions of horror films while also being scary, something that the third one didn't. All we can hope for at this point is that Craven and writer Kevin Williamson have learned from their mistakes.
