A few months ago, right around the time that A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas came out, I had the chance to sit down with writer/actor Tom Lennon and at one point in the interview asked him if he ever had any interest in directing. "Directing doesn't appeal to me that much," Lennon said. "I don't know what it is, it's just not really in my make-up. There's some people that have that sort of thing where they want to be in charge of stuff. But to me, that's sort of what I'm doing in the writing process." It would seem that his makeup has changed recently because now he's getting ready to make his feature directorial debut.

Deadline has learned that Lennon will be teaming up with longtime writing partner Robert Ben Garant to helm a script that they wrote called Hell Baby. The story centers on an expectant couple that moves to a haunted house in New Orleans only to discover that their soon-to-be-born child has been possessed by the devil. To solve the problem they contact the Vatican and bring in an "elite exorcism team." The directing pair has already brought on Rob Corddry and Leslie Bibb to star as the couple while Lennon and Garant will play the exorcists.

While Tom Lennon and Robert Ben Garant have some pretty terrible titles on their resumes - Taxi, The Pacifier, Herbie: Fully Loaded, etc. - when actually using their own voice the result can often be hilarious, as seen on shows like The State and Reno! 911. As directors they'll have total control and hopefully that will mean that they will really get to let their work shine.
