Robert Downey Jr. And Columbia Pictures Option Surival Book Emergency!

The world is a dangerous place to live in. Between tornadoes, hurricanes, terrorism, earthquakes, and disease, it's amazing that we all don't live our lives thinking that the ground is going to suddenly open up beneath our feet and swallow us whole. Luckily, however, Robert Downey Jr. and Columbia Pictures are going to show us how to survive.

THR reports that the actor, through his and his wife's production company Team Downey, and the studio have optioned the rights to the Neil Strauss book Emergency!: This Book Will Save Your Life. In the book, Strauss spends three years traveling across the country picking up survival tips, turning himself into "a gun-toting, lock-picking, plane-flying, government-defying survivor. The script will be written by Allan Loeb and, in addition to producing, Downey Jr. may also star.

Between The Avengers, Sherlock Holmes 2, Yucatan, Oz The Great And Powerful, Gravity, and now this, RDJ is keeping ridiculously busy (let's also not forget that he has Todd Phillips' Due Date coming out on November 5th). Even stranger, just last November that the actor talked about retiring. Now it looks as though we will be seeing plenty of him in the coming years and in no way is that a bad thing.
