Stephen Chow Shows Interest In Green Hornet

There hasn’t been much word on Seth Rogen and The Green Hornet since he got his hands on the comic book story. Of course, part of that could be because there’s been this huge writer’s strike going on, making it difficult for Rogen to get any work done on the picture. Thankfully, many of us remember what little Rogen has said about making the movie, including Coming Soon, who recently got the chance to talk to Stephen Chow about his upcoming film CJ7 and took the opportunity to mention the project.

For those who haven’t kept up with the project, Rogen is handling scripting duties for the movie, which he also plans to direct. This is a departure for Rogen, as he plans to make the movie a serious adaptation instead of the comical projects that he typically works on. When Rogen first took on the project, he mentioned he’d love to have Stephen Chow play Kato, the sidekick to the Green Hornet, once played by Bruce Lee.

When asked if he was interested in the part, Chow’s response was at first evasive, as if he didn’t know who Seth Rogen was. Once that was clarified, Chow seemed enthusiastic about the idea, bringing up Lee’s portrayal of the character: “When I saw the program, I thought it was a great role and thought it was outstanding, because I'm Chinese and it's Bruce Lee, but I'd be happy to play that role.” Chow then even went so far as to ask Coming Soon if they had a way to contact Rogen, or if they would pass his information on to the writer/actor.

So, Chow sounds interested in playing Kato, and we know Seth Rogen wants him for the part. Will this wind up as a fanboy dream come true? We’re certainly hoping so. Hopefully Rogen will see all the fanfare being made about Chow’s comments and contact the Chinese actor.
