Thanks to Moulin Rouge and Chicago the modern musical appears to not be a two-hit wonder.
The latest musical to get the greenlight is The Phantom of the Opera, directed by everybody’s favorite neon nipple guy Joel Schumacher and starring Gerard Butler (Timeline) and Emmy Rossum (The Day After Tomorrow). Based on the Andrew Lloyd Weber musical, The Phantom of the Opera is about an ugly dude who wears a mask and stalks chicks...at the opera, and then they sing.
The trailer is now online. The Phantom of the Opera hits theatres Christmas.
