Trailer For Uwe Boll's Far Cry

Last year felt kind of empty without an entry from Uwe Boll in theaters. It appears the filmmaker is making up for that emptiness by flooding theaters this year. We’ve already had his Dungeon Siege Tale come and go, and in the past few weeks we’ve seen trailers for a non-video game adaptation Tunnel Rats. Now we’re getting back onto the video game bandwagon with the trailer for Boll’s Far Cry.

The trailer looks like pretty standard Uwe Boll fare: gratuitous action sequences with no real context and no real plot, but there is one thing missing. Where are all of the standard upscale celebrities Boll tends to attract? No Ben Kingsley, not even a Burt Reynolds. The only real name the film has is Udo Kier, who most people won’t recognize and the trailer doesn’t capitalize on. Instead it tosses out the name Til Schweiger as if the name has instant recognizability and we should be excited to see him in the lead. Yawn.

The theaters may have been spared a year without having to deal with any Boll pictures, but it doesn’t look like Boll used the time to become a better filmmaker. Take a look at the trailer below and see if you don’t agree.
