United 93 Trailer Lands

I could go into a long diatribe about how much I dislike the idea of United 93 as a movie. I could tell you how I think it's too soon after the events of 9/11 to make movies that capitalize on the losses suffered that day. I could then tell you how I then changed my mind after seeing the first full trailer for Paul Greengrass's upcoming picture about the fourth of the hijacked flights, and how I think it pays tribute to the heroes who found courage that day and honors them... but I'd be lying.

After seeing the trailer for United 93 I'm now convinced more than ever that this is a bad attempt to cash in on the misery and suffering that occurred that day. From the look of the trailer the film will take on a documentary syle to make it feel more real (it was only 5 years ago - how real does it need to be?) and contains all the manipulative bullshit we expect from bad movies, down to the flight attendant wishing she were home with her kid before she discovers she's on board a doomed flight. Greengrass might as well throw in an old woman tossing a million dollar jewel off the plane as it goes down and call it a day.

But my job is not to make your mind up for you. Head over to our preview video page to check out the trailer for yourself.

It also looks like they updated the United 93 webpage while they at it. Check that out here

Thanks to Richard over at Filmstalker for pointing out the trailer was up.
