After 14 years of being absent from the XXX franchise, Vin Diesel is finally saddling up to save the world once again as extreme athlete / super spy Xander Cage. While the first photos from the production were exciting, we've got a feeling that the batch of photos released today will wow the crowd a little more, as Xander has apparently gone on strike when it comes to wearing a shirt. You can take a look for yourself below.
Much like the first photos that Diesel dropped from the xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage set, this latest look was released via his personal Facebook page. Posing as if he's about to kick someone's ass and/or make his way down the runway, Vin Diesel is accompanied by his new leading lady, Deepika Padukone. Padukone's character has been named as a former / current love interest who happens to also be quite the bad ass. While previously unnamed, we now know her character's name – all thanks to another post Diesel made on social media today.
As if that first photo wasn't enough, Vin Diesel also released the following photo on his Instagram, celebrating this being the first day of shooting on xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage. This second glance from the set shows Diesel paired yet again with Deepika Padukone, whose character has now been named Serena:
Despite being ex-lovers at the beginning of xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage, it doesn't look like Xander and Serena will be cold towards each other for long. And while the film is destined to excite with the action that director D.J. Caruso will obviously be including in this second sequel, we're actually quite excited to see what Vin Diesel and Deepika Padukone will look like in action together. The pair certainly look like they've got chemistry in this small sampling of the new film's content.
Getting back to the action oriented half of the equation, we're certainly looking forward to seeing xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage unleashing some explosive hell on whomever Xander is being sent to foil this time around. More importantly, with Ice Cube's Darius Stone looking to come back, it looks like the latest xXx film just might take after that the Fast And Furious franchise, as it too merged its leading casts once Diesel decided to return.
xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage has been a long time coming, but it looks like we'll be seeing Vin Diesel calling go time once more sometime next year. In the meantime, we'll be seeing Diesel in rare form as he appears in Ang Lee's dramedy Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, which is slated for release on November 11th.
