With no major new competition Batman v Superman was pretty much a lock for number one again this weekend, not that it didn't do its best to try and dethrone itself through sheer audience attrition.

The super hero extravaganza came off of an impressive opening weekend with a rough tumble into its second weekend, dropping almost 70% from last week. That left it with $52 million second, easily enough for a second weekend at number one. It also brings its domestic total to $261 million, leaving it on track to overtake Deadpool as the top grossing movie of the year to date.

Zootopia continued to show its stamina, dropping less than 20% on its fifth weekend and adding #20 million to its now $275 million total. It's not small feat for the movie to still be in the number two spot while other movies that came out the same weekend, like London Has Fallen and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot have fallen out of the top ten.

God's Not Dead 2, which is either a brilliant idea for a sequel because the original turned such a high percentage profit, or a terrible idea for a sequel because its presence means the first one wasn't convincing enough in its arguments, opened with $8 million for a fourth place start. That's better than the other newcomer this weekend, awkward comedy Meet The Blacks. It bowed in at number eight with just $4 million.

Eye in the Sky dabbled with the number ten spot last weekend but was dropped to eleventh when actual numbers rolled out last Monday (Sunday numbers are estimates and usually accurate enough that movies don't shift positions on the chart come Monday). This weekend it expanded to just over a thousand screens, banking $4 million and securing a spot at number nine. Given that it's within a few thousand of Meet The Blacks it might enjoy a little estimate karma and get bumped up to eighth when final numbers arrive tomorrow.
