Royals--they're just like us. Recently, Prince William surprised us with an appearance at Paddington Train Station in London, where he revealed that not only is Prince George an avid watcher of movies and programs on the television, he has a favorite movie that is really fit for any royal. The one he likes the most? Disney's The Lion King. According to Prince William,
He quite likes The Lion King. We've watched that a few times... He has watched some LEGO movies, as well. Trying to keep him off the television is hard work.
The Lion King is not a bad choice for someone who is a part of the Royal Family and could very well ascend to the throne one day. The 1994 Disney flick is full of life lessons for royals, including "a king's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun" and "as king, you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures." In fact, Simba learns a lot from his father Mufasa about what it is like to be a leader, assumedly similar to the lessons Prince George gets from his dad in his day-to-day life. The Lion King's lesson are good for all folks, really, but a song like "I Just Can't Wait To Be King" probably has more meaning for someone who could one day be king, even if he's only four-years-old at this point.
Prince George is currently third in line to the throne, upstaging Prince William's brother Prince Harry for the slot. Following Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and then Prince William would be the next two to ascend to the throne.
The news comes thanks to the help of one inquisitive child that Prince William visited with during the trip he took along with Kate Middleton to Paddington Station on Monday. The little boy asked if George had a favorite show, and Sky News caught the moment on camera. Also that day, a pregnant Kate Middleton took some time to dance with a life-size Paddington Bear and more. You can take a look at Prince William talking about his son, below.
As for Disney's The Lion King, the movie was just recently released from the vault by the longtime animation and movies company, for the Walt Disney Signature Collection, which comes with new bonus features. In addition to the re-release of the animated classic, which is little George's favorite, The Lion King is also one of the movies that Disney has on its list of live action remakes. Jon Favreau is already on board to direct, and you can take a look at the casting choices here.
