Rebel Wilson Says She Was Sexually Harassed By A Well-Known Male Co-Star

Rebel Wilson in Pitch Perfect 3

There have been a lot of allegations against prominent people of power in Hollywood over the past few weeks, beginning with the Harvey Weinstein news. Now Pitch Perfect 3 star Rebel Wilson has shared her own story about her rise in Hollywood, including dealing with some stars who didn't treat her particularly well along the way. She recently revealed that she was harassed by a well-known male co-star, although she's keeping her lips zipped about some of the more specific details. According to the actress,

A male star, in a position of power, asked me to go into a room with him and then asked me repeatedly to stick my finger up his ass. All whilst his male 'friends' tried to film the incident on their iPhones and laughed. I repeatedly said no and eventually got out of the room.

Per a lengthy set of posts on Twitter, Rebel Wilson described an encounter she had with a male star who was famous and held power during one of the projects she worked on. As shown above, he made her feel uncomfortable when she was in a room with him, so to cover her bases, she says that she, her agent and lawyer talked out the situation and even contacted the studio about the incident. This would have hopefully given her leverage to leave should the issue with the co-star get worse. Instead, the actress says she ended up having some rough conversations with the star's rep.

Later I was threatened by one of the star's representatives to be nice and support the male star. I refused. The whole thing was disgusting. I've told hundreds of people in the industry the story in more graphic detail basically to warn them off this individual.

One bad interaction can have lasting ramifications, but in this case, it's hard to tell if anything happened with the male celebrity later on--especially concerning working relationships--as Rebel Wilson isn't specific regarding who the person was or what project she was working on. She says this wasn't the only time she was uncomfortable in Hollywood, though. Another time a director asked her up to a hotel room, after which the guy's wife called to chew him out about having girls in his room. Luckily, in that case nothing worse happened. And Wilson says she was naïve.

I was so naive the thought of anything happening apart from 'work talk' didn't even cross my mind.

Rebel Wilson's narrative is similar to a lot of the other celebrities who have come out in recent weeks. Some of them have spoken about sexual harassment on sets. Some have dealt with serious incidents of abuse. Many of these cases involve women and men whose voices were not heard after incidents. We'll let you know if and when more stories such as this one come to light.
