Sylvester Stallone in Rambo V: Last Blood

As Rambo V: Last Blood inches closer to its release, the final marketing push behind the film has become a bit more forceful. The title tells moviegoers exactly what to expect: more badass action sequences, more blood and more Sylvester Stallone, all for the last time. We already know a bit about the film, but the sheer joy of watching Rambo utterly annihilate scores of one-dimensional baddies is a joy that even mild spoilers can't ruin.

Now, Sylvester Stallone himself has shared a new image from the film and it's all kinds of amazing. We're betting that, like its preceding installments, the film is going to make an absolute killing at the box office. Why wouldn't it?

As you can see, this Instagram photo Sylvester Stallone shared depicts his character sitting astride a horse with one blood-caked hand grasping the reins. It's honestly not much, but at this point, we'll take anything we can get as we wait for the film's September release.

What did catch our attention was Sylvester Stallone's short-but-sweet caption, which promised that a new teaser will drop Tuesday. He really didn't need to say any more, honestly. And while this is exciting, it's not the first footage we've seen. Nor is it the first trailer we've seen. Still, we're chomping at the bit to see what else Stallone and company will show us.

Rambo: Last Blood will see John Rambo traveling to Mexico to save his friend's daughter from the cartel. Adrian Grunberg directed the film and Stallone co-wrote it along with Matt Cirulnick. Before principal photography began in October 2018, the film had a fairly troubled production.

Its predecessor, Rambo IV, was released in 2008 to mixed reviews. Various versions were started and scrapped for months after that film's release, and nothing was set in stone until Stallone announced in May 2018 that Last Blood would be released in fall 2019.

The franchise-starter Rambo: First Blood was released in 1982 and was a box office hit. It followed veteran John Rambo as he battled corruption in a small town in Washington. Despite the fact that the film suffered slightly from a mixed critical response, the film's box office performance encouraged the studio to pursue a highly successful franchise, and it got one.

Now, decades later, we've arrived at Rambo's final adventure, and it promises all the action, violence, and steely determination we've come to expect from the series and its muscle-bound protagonist. September can't come soon enough!

Rambo V: Last Blood hits theaters on September 20. Are you excited? Are you indifferent? Are you a casual fan who may or may not catch it in the theater? What other 2019 movies are you excited for? Let us know in the comments below!
