Must Watch: Daft Punk's Insanely Cool Tron: Legacy Music Video

The word is that Daft Punk’s work on the Tron: Legacy soundtrack is nothing short of legendary. Maybe you even already have a copy, it went on sale today. Mine’s sitting next to my keyboard. But maybe just as good as the soundtrack itself, is Daft Punk’s brand new music video for “Derezzed”, one of the best songs on the soundtrack.

The music video debuted this morning on MTV and now it’s online where it must be watched over and over and over again. It’s not a collection of footage from the movie, but a completely new, completely different set of visuals set in a Daft Punk take on the Tron world. Watch it right now:

What’s really great about it, if you’re a Tron fan, is that the video actually incorporates elements both from the original 1982 Tron and the new movie. The effects sequence where Flynn is sucked into the computer in the original film is used almost in its entirety here, the game grid is vintage 1982 Tron, and the teleportation effects from the original movie are back too. It’s insanely cool.
