Today Maxis is releasing Update 10 for their 2013 SimCity reboot. This patch removes the widely despised online requirement for the game.

Maxis mentioned this weekend that they were still working on an offline mode for city-building game SimCity. Today they revealed that this mode will be part of Update 10, the game's next patch.

Maxis has addressed one of the major complaints with last year's SimCity reboot. No, they didn't remove the always-online requirement. They've enabled mod support for the city-building game.

Maxis is exploring the idea of an offline mode for SimCity, Emeryville studio general manager Patrick Buechner announced today. What's more, they're also toying with the possibility of allowing mods.

SimCity will be receiving its first full expansion pack later this fall. Cities of Tomorrow allows players to bring their cities into the future.

Starting today, SimCity players will be able to design amusement parks for their virtual cities. Maxis describes the new feature as being "almost a mini-game."
