Kerry Washington Gives Birth To Her Second Child, And It's A Boy!

It's handled. Kerry Washington is now the proud momma to two children, as the Scandal star gave birth to her son earlier this month.

Kerry Washington gave birth to her newborn son with husband Nnamdi Asomugha about two weeks ago, E! News confirmed. The couple named their second child Caleb Kelechi Asomugha, and he was born on October 5. Caleb Asomugha's birth makes the couple's two-year-old daughter Isabelle a big sister.

Kerry Washington first revealed that she was pregnant with her second child in May on the red carpet for the White House Correspondents' Dinner. She and Nnamdi Asomugha are known for keeping their personal lives out of the public eye, choosing to raise daughter Isabelle outside of the spotlight, so it's not a huge surprise that news of Caleb's birth came a full two weeks after it happened.

Caleb Asomugha may just be a newborn, but he's already had a huge effect on the television climate of 2016. In order to avoid having to hide a baby belly or unnaturally write a pregnancy storyline into the show, Kerry Washington's series Scandal moved its upcoming Season 6 premiere back from its usual fall date to January of 2017. The new season's episode order also got cut down from the usual 22 to 16 due to the delayed premiere.

Back when Kerry Washington was pregnant with her first child Isabelle Asomugha during Scandal's third season, the show made attempts to hide her baby belly by dressing her character of Olivia Pope in more loose-fitting clothing and obstructing the views of her stomach in wide shots. As her due date grew closer, the show ultimately had to cut its episode number down from 22 to 18, airing the season finale four weeks ahead of the original schedule.

Kerry Washington's impeccable ability to keep her personal life out of the public eye is not only evidenced in her two pregnancies, but also in her marriage. She surprised the media by marrying NFL cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha in June of 2013 despite the fact that nobody had reported that the pair were ever linked, and a single photo of them together was never obtained by the media before their secret ceremony. To keep the wedding even more hush-hush, the pair had the nuptials in the small town of Hailey, Idaho, far from both Washington's birthplace of the Bronx, New York and Asomugha's of Lafayette, Louisiana.

But no matter how private little Caleb's life may be, at least he's already gotten to walk the Emmys red carpet, and that's pretty damn awesome!
