TMZ reports that the 4-year-old Gary will be in the care of Carrie Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd. Per the site, Gary was actually with Carrie Fisher on the flight from London to LAX when the actress suffered the heart attack late last week. It sounds like Gary's new living arrangement is tentative, as Billie wants to make sure Gary gets along with her own Frenchie, Tina, and the she can handle two dogs.
I have a French bulldog of my own. He's awesome, but he's a handful, so I don't blame Billie for taking this one day at a time.
It sounds like Gary was more than just a pet for Fisher, he was also a service pet to help her with her bipolar disorder.
Per TMZ's source, it was Carrie Fisher's wish that Billie would adopt Gary in the event of her death. And if this new arrangement for the dog doesn't work out, it sounds like someone else in the family will take the little guy.
Last year, Carrie Fisher went on Good Morning America to promote Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and she had Gary with her for the interview. The adorable pup sat with his tongue characteristically out, while Carrie Fisher made well-timed jokes about her disinterest in the whole weight-loss conversation. It's perfection...
And for those concerned about Gary Fisher's fate, it sounds like the little guy is in safe hands, and will remain close to the family.
