9-Month-Old Baby Has Seen 2 Perfect Games

There’s a reason why it’s a hell of a lot harder to get tickets to playoff games. More than appreciating the sport for its own sake, fans want to be on hand to witness history with their own eyes, to be able to say, “Yeah, I was there when that happened.” Nine-month-old Bode Dockal might not remember his first two baseball games when he has children of his own, but he’ll sure as hell tell them he was there.

That’s because, remarkably, both times he’s gone to the ballpark, a perfect game has been pitched. There have only been twenty-three in the entire century plus history of Major League Baseball, and this kid has been on hand for two. The first was thrown by Chicago White Sox pitcher Phil Humber, and the second was thrown by Mariners’ hurler Felix Hernandez.

According to USA Today, Bode’s father Paul said the two days were the best he’s ever had with his son. I’d say it’s too bad the duo have already used up such wonderful experiences, but seeing the luck they’ve had thus far, it seems foolish to predict they’ll never witness another all-time great pitching performance.

As for the rest of us, we’ll just have to continue hoping to glimpse history when we visit the stadium and continue relying on ESPN to interrupt regularly scheduled programming to bring us the final two innings of games in which pitchers could possibly be perfect.
