Lance Bass Is The First N'Sync Member To Admit He's Gay

Well here’s a shocker: One of the N’Sync boys is gay. I’d just assumed they all were.

Former N’Sync member Lance Bass came out of the closet in a recent interview with People Magazine. He said he kept quiet about it for the benefit of the other guys. “I knew that I was in this popular band and I had four other guys' careers in my hand, and I knew that if I ever acted on it or even said (that I was gay), it would overpower everything,” he told People. But now it’s out in the open and he’s free to hook up with that Weasely kid from American Idol who’s still in denial and pick out wallpaper and make babies… well not make babies but definitely wallpapering is an option. A tacky option, but still an option.

The American Idol kid will have to wait though, since 27-year-old Lance says he’s in a stable relationship with Amazing Race winner Reichen Lehmkuhl.

Media blitz aside it, coming out can’t be easy for Bass, since he was raised in Mississippi by Southern Baptsits. The folks down there are probably already burning him in effigy. But after keeping silent for so long, he says it’s a relief to come out in the open. “The thing is, I'm not ashamed -- that's the one thing I want to say," he explains. "I don't think it's wrong, I'm not devastated going through this. I'm more liberated and happy than I've been my whole life. I'm just happy."

Coming out isn’t easy, though it’s probably a little easier now that Lance Bass is basically irrelevant. Still, good for him. There’s nothing more freeing than being able to be honest about who and what you really are. A big weight has just been lifted off his shoulders.
