Lil Wayne initially brought Nicki Minaj to the pop culture forefront, and the two have maintained a fast friendship in the years since. Oddly enough, 30-year-old Wayne hasn’t tuned in to catch his buddy Minaj on American Idol, yet, and he doesn’t really have plans to watch the popular singing competition show in the future. From an outsider’s view, this may seem pretty insensitive, but the two spoke about it before Lil Wayne decided it wasn’t his thing.

On Friday, the rap star admitted his little secret while signing autographs in New Orleans. The Huffington Post reported the news, noting that it’s the “catfights” between Minaj and fellow judge Mariah Carey and not the nature of the singing competition itself that is keeping him away from Fox on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
"When I talk to her she always tells me, `You don't wanna watch that, you're not going to be into it. She knows me. ... It's kind of like a catfight where they be going back and forth type of thing, I'm not into all that.”

Even though he’s not into her onscreen tiffs, you would think Wayne would have tuned in for at least one of Minaj’s stints onscreen, just to see what she’s like as a TV personality. However, since Minaj seems to have given her blessing, it’s kind of hard to fault him for avoiding something that’s clearly not his thing. Perhaps if Minaj opts to get onstage and perform during an episode of the show, the rapper will change his mind.
