The Pittsburgh Steelers Don't Have A Place To Stay This Weekend

During the season, the lives of professional athletes are meticulously planned. From where they eat certain meals to what time they’re supposed to show up, all of these decisions are plotted by experts in order to ensure their bodies are functioning as efficiently as possible during game time. Now and again, however, life gets in the way.

Thanks to Hurricane Sandy, the Pittsburgh Steelers no longer have a place to stay for Sunday’s game against the Giants. Their hotel in Jersey City doesn’t have power, and because so many other people have been displaced from their homes, no other hotels are available. Without other options, the team has been forced to schedule a flight for Sunday morning.

According to ESPN, the team will head to a local hotel in New Jersey after landing for the typical pregame meal. Buses will then transport the guys to the stadium ahead of the 4:25 p.m. EST start time.

Thus far this season, the Steelers have been less than spectacular on the road. They’ve lost three of four games, and that’s been with the typical travel arrangements. Maybe this Hurricane Sandy confusion will serve as a change-up that allows the players to focus, or maybe it will be yet another distraction for a team that can’t quite get it together when they’re away from Pittsburgh. We shall see.
