Tom Brokaw Hospitalized After Mistakenly Taking Ambien
Former NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw spent his morning in the hospital after a medication mix-up. The beloved newsman was on the set of Morning Joe when he started to feel a bit light-headed. Rather than sending him on the air not feeling 100%, executives decided a trip to the doctor was the smarter play. He’s expected to be released shortly, and if a recent tweet is any indication, he’ll leave the hospital in good spirits.
Here’s how Brokaw described the situation via his Twitter account a few hours ago…
If ever there was a pill that would leave someone incapable of going on live television, it’s probably Ambien. Even half a dose would be enough to make a seasoned anchor loopy. NBC definitely made the right decision in keeping him off the airwaves, though the choice to send him to the hospital seems a little suspect if all involved realized he had, in fact, taken Ambien. Still, it’s nice to know it’s not something more serious. Turning a medical examination into an excuse to bash a football team for their pathetic play is always a sign of good spirits.
Pop Blend’s thoughts go out to Brokaw and his family as he heads home. With any luck, we’ll see him back on the air in the next few days.
