Saturday Night Live has had its ups and downs as the cast has changed over the years, but there is one thing that fans seem to unrepentantly love about the NBC comedy series. No one can resist watching cast members crack up when they are trying to play one outrageous character or another on SNL. What I love most about this compilation, courtesy of Kate McKinnonTV, is that it's not just a giant supercut of Bill Hader totally losing it in sketches (although there are a few moments with Hader, who notoriously broke character on the set). Instead, the video spans the more than forty years that Saturday Night Live has been on the air. There's a great moment with Gilda Radner and Candice Burgen losing it, although both hilarious females totally play off of one another to have fun in the moment. There's another great sketch bit where Will Ferrell loses it and then Tina Fey comforts him.
We also get to spend time with the most recent batch of cast members, as well as the likes of Jimmy Fallon--who seems to crack up quite a bit--and Molly Shannon, plus other major players throughout the show's long and storied history. And if famous cast members breaking character isn't enough, the video also sees Jamie Foxx, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling and others totally lose it during respective hosting gigs, too.
If you are a fan of Bill Hader and especially Bill Hader cracking up while playing the Stefan character, you will get a lot of that in the center of this compilation video. Between the 2:46 mark and the 3:20 mark it's all literally Bill Hader cracking up at the outrageous things that Stefan says. The actor notoriously did that weird hand motion where he covered his mouth in order to hide his laughter, but the fact that he is breaking character is still pretty apparent.
Despite the fact this is a lengthy compilation of actors breaking character on SNL it's not an event that happens every episode. In fact, it's often something we see only a few times per season, as a lot of times the actors are able to get all of their giggles out during the dress rehearsal for the late night sketch comedy series. If you want to see some of the wild bloopers that come out of dress rehearsal, do stick around until the end of the video, as there are more funny moments, there.
