The last 24 hours have certainly been rough on many of us. As many of you already know, only a few days after suffering from a heart attack on a Los Angeles-bound airplane, Carrie Fisher tragically passed away at the age of 60. The legendary actress leaves behind a truly impressive legacy (as well as an army of rabid fans) but it now seems that she's not done bringing joy into our lives just yet. Despite her recent passing, Fisher will still posthumously appear on two upcoming episodes of Family Guy.
A report from Variety confirms that Carrie Fisher completed work on two episodes of Family Guy prior to her death earlier this week, and those episodes will air during the latter half of this season -- although specific air dates for each episode have yet to be revealed. Fisher provided her voice for Angela (Peter Griffin's sexually aggressive boss at the Pawtucket Brewery) numerous times over the years and these upcoming appearances will bring her grand total up to 22 episodes since her 2005 debut. She was always a delightfully absurd presence on the series, and her episodes rank alongside other notable guest appearances like James Woods and Ryan Reynolds.
Carrie Fisher's work on the adult-oriented Seth MacFarlane cartoon allowed her to reach an entirely new generation of fans -- not unlike her fellow geek icon, Adam West. She used the voice-acting job as a way to show a very different (and endlessly hilarious) side of herself that was unlike anything Star Wars fans had seen from Princess Leia. While Fisher actually took on a number of comedic roles throughout her career (in television and film), her work as Angela has become particularly memorable for its consistency and brashness.
Check out one of Carrie Fisher's best scenes as Angela below. It doesn't take long to realize that she's definitely not playing the effortlessly poised Princess Leia:
It's also worth noting that Angela isn't the only iconic Carrie Fisher character that we will get to see in the near future. Following Fisher's tragic passing, it was revealed that (in addition to her work on Family Guy) the actress had also completed her work as General Leia in Rian Johnson's upcoming Star Wars sequel. It will undoubtedly be bittersweet, but we cannot wait to see her final performances.
CinemaBlend will bring more information concerning Carrie Fisher's upcoming episodes of Family Guy as more details become available to us and the specific air dates are revealed. Family Guy returns to FOX on Sunday, January 8 at 9 p.m. EST.
