Season 8 of The Walking Dead has been a doozy. With All Out War against Negan and The Saviors putting our favorite characters into the line of fire, we've seen the survivors attempt to divid and conquer once and for all. But things are looking a bit precarious for their fearless leader Rick Grimes lately. He's currently being kept in captivity at The Scavengers' junkyard home, being locked in a container with a mysterious letter A marked by Jadis. And while fans are obsessing over what that might mean, they've also realized something a bit less serious: Rick may be wearing the same pair of boxers throughout the entirety of the series.
A Walking Dead fan Twitter account pointed this out, as Rick's boxers from his Scavenger cell look eerily familiar to the ones he was shown wearing in the very first episode. Check out the image below.
Looks like Rick Grimes needs to hit up the apocalyptic department store ASAP. Because while the survivors have been through some serious wear and tear, I can't imagine how his underoos are surviving the various conflicts of the series.
Of course, the above tweet is mostly functional for comedic purposes. Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes is an extremely serious character, who is usually a killing machine when he's not making inspirational speeches to his group of survivors. Any moments to poke fun at the former Sheriff's deputy are beloved by fans, inserting some levity into Lincoln's stirring performance. For example, his pronunciation of Carl's name is the "Coral" meme that keeps on giving, with the actor even acknowledging it at Comic-Cons. Here's an example of one classic Coral memes.
It should be interesting to see how long Rick is stuck in those boxers in this Sunday's midseason finale episode. It looks like Jadis has plans for everyone's favorite badass, although it's a complete mystery. Is she handing him over to The Saviors, or will the Alexandria militia come and destroy the Scavengers and save their leader? He certainly seems to be calm cool an collected, ensuring Jadis that her community will be destroyed if they don't cooperate and join the battle against The Saviors. But she isn't convinced, and will no doubt use a captive Rick to help move her monosyllabic community live another day.
