How The Scandal And How To Get Away With Murder Crossover Is Happening

Olivia Annalise Kerry Washington Viola Davis Scandal How To Get Away With Murder ABC

After both leading actresses teased something strange was happening via Instagram early last month, it's been confirmed that the long-awaited Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder crossover is finally happening. Shonda Rhimes' fans will get to see these two shows crossover before Scandal ends, and now details about how the event will happen are finally coming to light. It looks like Annalise Keating and Michaela Pratt will make the first move, as their characters seek out Oliva Pope for some help regarding a case.

The problem with that is Scandal's Olivia Pope is right in the middle of making her way out of the White House, so helping Annalise fast-track a judicial reform class action to the Supreme Court might be difficult. Can the D.C. fixer still work her magic after her fall from grace? The Scandal hour of the crossover event is titled "Allow Me To Reintroduce Myself," so we're betting the answer to that question is yes. In either case, the promo for the first-hour doesn't give away any spoilers, but is sure to make the hairs stand up on the neck of any Gladiators:

The drama will carry on in How To Get Away With Murder as EW reported the title for that episode is "Lahey v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania." The episode description is largely the same as Scandal's, minus the fact that Cornelius Smith Jr. is stated to appear alongside Washington. Plus,HTGAWM 's episode description adds that Bonnie uncovers some information that will reveal what really happened the night Simon was shot. It looks like How To Get Away With Murder didn't need Kerry Washington to have a scandal of its own, although its safe to say her appearance is fine regardless considering this is something fans of both shows have wanted to see for a while now.

Of course, the icing on this Shonda Rhimes' crossover cake would've been just a tad sweeter had the series found a way to work in Grey's Anatomy, but with that series kicking off the big crossover night introducing its spinoff Station 19, there probably wasn't time to try and work all those pieces together. Suffice to say Thursday, March 1 will be a huge night for fans of Shonda Rhimes' television shows, and a night busy fans should clear their schedules for. Just to drive that point home even further, here's the slightly different promo for the How To Get Away With Murder half of the crossover, to keep fans psyched:

The world will see what happens when Olivia and Annalise's worlds collide in the big crossover that kicks off on ABC with Scandal Thursday, March 1 at 9:00 p.m. ET. For more on other new or returning shows and where to find them, head on over to our midseason premiere guide to keep in the loop.
