Brandon Routh, the man who was once Superman, is moving on to seek his fortune on the small screen. Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Routh is "a lock" for AMC's The Walking Dead, an adaptation of Robert Kirkman's comic series about the zombie survivors of an apocalypse looking for a safe place to live.

Routh's role isn't specified, but god, wouldn't it be fun to see him play a zombie? Frank Darabont is directing the pilot episode and will be executive producing the series, lending major cred to a show that will have to live up to the reputations of network siblings Mad Men and Breaking Bad. Of course, a zombie TV show can't really be expected to have anything to do with period dramas or shows about meth dealers, but quality is quality. Here's hoping Routh can help Darabont bring the goods.
