I doubt I'm alone in having been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to begin the countdown for the fifth and final season of AMC's excellent drama series Breaking Bad. Of course, it's kind of hard to start a countdown when you don't have a set date to look forward to. AMC has rectified this situation by announcing the Season 5 premiere date for Breaking Bad, as well as the second season premiere date for their western drama Hell on Wheels. And then there's the new program coming to the network, Small Town Security.

Starting with the biggest news, Breaking Bad Season 5 will debut Sunday, July 15 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. It's been rumored that the last season of the series would be split into two parts and AMC has confirmed this. Eight episodes of the 16-episode season will air this summer, starting in July, and the other eight episodes will air Summer 2013. I expect Episode 8 to leave us hanging somehow.

Also set to premiere on July 15 is AMC's new show Small Town Security (formerly titled JJK Security), an unscripted show that follows a family-owned private security in rural Georgia. It seems like AMC's aiming to bank on the Breaking Bad lead-in to get some ratings momentum on this new show, which premieres the same night Breaking Bad does, and airs immediately after (at 11:00 p.m.). That's definitely not a bad plan.

Finally, later in the summer, AMC has Hell on Wheels set to air Sunday, August 12 at 9pm ET/PT. The western series' return is set up to air before Breaking Bad, which locks AMC in for a two-hour block of badassery with regards to its characters.
