Ben and Kate already have some heavy hitters in their cast, including Dakota Johnson, who was great as the spunky Aubrey in The Five-Year Engagement. Now, the new Fox comedy has added another network regular to increase the program's star power. The Finder’s Geoff Stults will take on a role as a love interest for the titular Kate.

Stults was a pretty manic character when The Finder concept first aired within an episode of Bones. The writing eventually settled out, but the audience never did, leaving the actor without a starring role at the beginning of this season. Luckily, Stults managed to sign an overall deal with 20th TV to keep on starring in shows for Fox. According to Deadline, the former leading man has a multi-camera comedy in the works, but until that gets picked up, his schedule is a lot more open to take on recurring roles like the one Ben and Kate offered.

Stults will play a love interest for Kate, likely because they have a big “something” in common on the show: kids. While the program will focus on Kate and her brother, Ben, as they raise Kate’s child, Stults’ character will be a single parent in his own right. Playing a daddy is a far cry from the role the actor played on his last show, but I have no doubt he can handle the change. The single dad will appear in the Halloween episode, airing on October 30 on Fox.

Ben and Kate premieres on Tuesday, September 25 at 8:30 p.m. ET on Fox.
