Why Peter Krause Jumped From 9-1-1 To ... Another First Responder Series
From one show to the next.
As 9-1-1 prepares to head into its 10th season on the 2026 TV schedule, the series will also be going into its second season without Peter Krause. His beloved character, Bobby Nash, was shockingly killed off in Season 8. Despite fans hoping that Bobby could still be alive, their dreams were dashed once and for all when Krause landed a new role. He’s set to star in NBC’s upcoming series Line of Fire later this year, and he explained why he made the jump from one first responder drama to another.
Line of Fire, which will premiere in September, centers on a family of law enforcement agents entangled in a deadly conspiracy. Krause won’t be portraying a firefighter this time around, as his character, Mike Hollingsworth, is a Secret Service Agent. However, the fact that he’s going from one first responder show to another is definitely interesting. Perhaps the actor just has a type. Via Decider, he shared what drew him to Line of Fire during NBCUniversal’s Backlot Pass Day:
Yes, the other show and this show. What drew me to this show was the script, and I’m going to give credit to a pair of my agents, Peter Levine and Jamie Feld at CAA, who stressed that I should read this script, and I was glad I did. It was a fantastic script that had a virtual meeting with Josh Safran, and we talked mostly about other things, but it became very clear to me that we would be able to work well together, and it was based on that, the script.
While I love the fact that Krause will soon be back on my television screen, I am hurt that he has seemingly moved on from 9-1-1. Not only that, but he’s moved on to another first responder show. Hearing why he decided to go with Line of Fire, initially titled Protection, makes sense, and I have no doubt that it’s going to be a good show. I am definitely excited for what’s to come from it; however, the irony stings a bit.
That being said, I was one of the many fans hoping that Bobby’s death was just a hoax, and it was either a dream or his death was faked. Now, I feel like I really need to let those theories go.
At the very least, being off of 9-1-1 hasn’t stopped the actor from hanging out with his former co-stars. Krause recently engaged in a mustache-off with some of the 9-1-1 cast, and it makes me miss seeing them all together. It’s always possible that he could come back as Bobby in a dream or a hallucination. However, now that he's got a new show, this feels highly unlikely.
Even though the first responder series that Peter Krause is starring in is no longer 9-1-1, I am still excited to tune in. Any chance to see him on my TV screen, I am taking it, especially since it has been far too long. The series premiere of Line of Fire airs on Monday, September 21 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC, streaming the next day with a Peacock subscription. Fans won’t want to miss this one.
