The Following Adds Ringer's Mike Colter

Fox has already started to ramp up promotions for their upcoming serial killer thriller/drama The Following. The series, which stars Kevin Bacon as a former FBI agent who's brought out of retirement to pursue a ruthless serial killer, played by James Purefoy. Those who've seen The CW's short-lived drama Ringer may recognize the face of the latest cast addition to the series.

TV Line reports that Ringer's Mike Colter has boarded The Following. The drama has Kevin Bacon's character Ryan Hardy coming out of retirement to return to the FBI to revisit the case of Purefoy's Joe Carroll, a serial killer who has his own cult of followers. While Hardy is brought in to hunt down Carroll, Colter's character federal agent Nick Donovan is responsible for keeping an eye on Hardy.

In The CW's Ringer, Colter played the role of Malcolm Ward, a recovering addict and (one of) Sarah Michelle Gellar's character's sponsor and friend. More recently, Colter played Lemond Bishop in The Good Wife and appeared in Men in Black 3. It'll be interesting to see what kind of character Nick Donovan is. Is he going to be the strict supervisor-type that gets in Hardy's way as he tries to do his job? Or will he be the supportive kind who gives him the benefit of the doubt and lets him cross lines when he needs to?

We've made it no secret that we're really excited about The Following. We recently shared some new promotional photos and new promos. Fox also recently announced the premiere date for the series, which is set for January 21.
