The Following Teaser Focuses On A Serial Killer's Masterpiece

With October being the month-of-creepy, not to mention it being just a couple of months away from January and the start of midseason, Fox has made the wise choice to really promote their upcoming new drama The Following, which doesn't arrive until early next year but may follow in the footsteps of last year's Touch in being one of the network's best offerings of the season. Wouldn't it have been great if The Following had been set to premiere this month, joining American Horror Story and The Walking Dead among the creepy October offerings? There's no sense in complaining. What's done is done and we'll wait patiently for the series to make its way onto the small screen next year. In the meantime, at the very least, we're getting some great teasers for the series, the latest of which is titled "Masterpiece."

"This is just the beginning," James Purefoy's Joe Carroll says in the video below. A fitting statement for a trailer promoting the premiere of the series. The Following comes from Kevin Williamson (Scream, The Vampire Diaries), and follows former FBI agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) as he's brought out of retirement when the serial killer he once tracked down (Purefoy's Joe Carroll) escapes. The trailer below focuses on focuses on Joe's "art" as described by Ryan…

The trailer touches on two key aspects of Purefoy's character, his love of Poe (note the "Raven" quote smeared on the wall in front of the guy in the chair) and Joe's "followers." And we get a bunch of creepy scares. A great little spot to remind us of what's ahead!

The Following premieres this January on Fox.
