The CW’s Arrow brought DC characters to the small screen in full force, and The Flash proved that truly faithful adaptations of these properties could draw in mainstream audiences. However, Legends of Tomorrow proved that a deep roster of genuinely obscure DC properties could have a meaningful impact on viewers. With the first season of the new series about to come to its conclusion, all eyes seem set on what’s to come in Season 2. We fully expected more characters to show up, and now it looks like Legends of Tomorrow won’t disappoint.
Speaking with Comicbook.com, Legends of Tomorrow Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim recently came out and stated that a ton of DC characters will debut on Legends of Tomorrow next season:
It looks as though Legends of Tomorrow has only begun to scratch the surface of what Marc Guggenheim and the rest of the folks behind the scenes of Legends have in store for their small screen DC universe. The show’s implementation of numerous high concept sci-fi tropes affords them the opportunity to bring in ridiculous characters from DC lore that wouldn’t necessarily feel at home in (relatively) grounded shows like Arrow or The Flash. He isn’t too generous with the details, but this could mean that established characters like John Constantine, or entirely new DC characters like Booster Gold could come aboard the Waverider within the next season.
That’s a tall order when we consider the sheer number of DC characters that have already shown up on Legends of Tomorrow during the show’s freshman season. Aside from the core cast of DC heroes and villains that make up the titular team of Legends, some of the show’s best episodes have entailed the introduction of more obscure DC characters from deep within the comic book mythos. From Jonah Hex to Connor Hawke, Legends has carved out a reputation for itself as a “who’s who?” of obscure DC heroes and villains.
Only time will tell which beloved DC characters show up on the next season of Legends of Tomorrow. Who do you want to see join (or fight) the team next year?
We will bring you more information concerning the upcoming season of Legends of Tomorrow as it becomes available to us. The season finale of the first-year series will air this coming Thursday on The CW. Here's what else is coming up this summer.
Originally from Connecticut, Conner grew up in San Diego and graduated from Chapman University in 2014. He now lives in Los Angeles working in and around the entertainment industry and can mostly be found binging horror movies and chugging coffee.
