Any and all Downton Abbey fans should prepare to sing to the rooftops. That’s because Maggie Smith has finally confirmed she will return to the hit ITV series—which airs on PBS in the U.S.—for Season 4. The news came just one day after TV’s Dowager Countess earned a Golden Globe award for her performance in Downton Abbey.

Downton Abbey executive producer Gareth Neame confirmed that Smith would be returning for Season 4 on Sunday to TV Line. All of the main cast members expected to return for Season 4 have already signed contracts for the new season, so with the addition of Smith, Season 4 should be set in stone and the writers can officially move forward knowing what cast members they have and don’t have

News concerning whether or not Smith would return for Season 4 has been a long time coming. The actress has been waffling over the last few months, unsure whether she should stay or go; at one point, creator Julian Fellowes wasn’t even certain if he could convince the veteran actress to stick around.

Additionally, cementing Smith for the next batch of episodes is good news in a season following the departure of several major cast members. If you’d like to get into spoilers concerning those other cast members, look into our other Downton Abbey coverage. However, as Season 3 has just begun airing in the U. S., do note there are some major plot spoilers after the jump.

Downton Abbey airs Sunday evenings on PBS.
