NBC's Mad Men Emmy Promos Return

The Emmy voting window is closed, which means NBC can re-unveil the promos they had to pull when Mad Men’s competition cried “No fair!” Check them out here!

The promos feature Emmy host Jimmy Fallon as he spoofs Mad Men alongside series star Christina Hendricks. According to the Hollywood Reporter, NBC ran the promos last week but received some backlash from Mad Men’s Emmy nominated rivals who didn’t appreciate NBC’s Mad Men favortism while voting was still underway. NBC pulled the ads until today as the ballots are officially closed. Below are two of them, both of which start out the same but have different endings.

Given the state of Jon Hamm’s character this season (so far), I’d say Fallon’s blundering version of the usually suave, cool-as-a-cucumber Don Draper could almost be seen as an upgrade from the frequently disoriented and often inebriated Don Draper of Season 4.

The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards will air on Sunday, August 29th on NBC.

Assistant Managing Editor

Kelly put her life-long love of movies, TV and books to greater use when she joined CinemaBlend as a freelance TV news writer in 2006, and went on to serve as the site’s TV Editor before joining the staff full-time in 2011 and moving over to other roles at the site. At present, she’s an Assistant Managing Editor who spends much of her time brainstorming and editing features, analyzing site data, working with writers and editors on content planning and the workflow, and (of course) continuing to obsess over the best movies and TV shows (those that already exist, and the many on the way). She graduated from SUNY Cortland with BA in Communication Studies and a minor in Cinema Studies. When she isn't working, she's probably thinking about work, or reading (or listening to a book), and making sure her cats are living their absolute best feline lives.
