Three people hired by Fox's X Factor in under a week? Either this is all an elaborate joke or someone has finally told Simon Cowell and his co-producers that the LA auditions start tomorrow. The frantic hiring spree kicked off on Thursday with British songstress Cheryl Cole boarding the project as a judge, and now has continued with former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones taking the hosting duties. Wait who?

Steve Jones, not to be confused with the former US Open winner of the same name, is a British emcee who's famous for hosting game shows and live programs in the UK. No doubt most Americans are completely unfamiliar with his resume, but with a show like X Factor that requires smooth transitions and quick thinking, it's more important to have someone competent than someone famous. Ryan Seacrest was an unknown when he took over the reigns of American Idol, and that went pretty well for all involved.

Nicole Scherzinger's resume is a little more well known to audiences Stateside, but the singer does have some experience with X Factor. She's appeared on the British incarnation of the program, and apparently, Simon Cowell liked enough of what he saw to invite her back.

X Factor premieres on Fox in September. Paula Abdul is widely assumed to be joining the cast as the fourth and final judge, but her deal still isn't done yet. If the show can continue this hiring momentum, look for her to sign on by tomorrow's LA auditions.
