Pretty Little Liars is currently mid-way through its second season, with the first part having aired last summer and the remaining twelve episodes set to air this coming January. Fans of the ABC Family drama can rejoice, not only because the series will be back in just over a month, but also because it’s been renewed for a third season.

Deadline posted the news, stating that ABC Family has picked up the drama for twenty-four episodes, which matches the shows second season, not counting the Halloween episode that aired last October. As the site points out, Pretty Little Liars is one of ABC Family’s top three shows, so the renewal isn’t exactly hugely surprising news.

The other two shows that fall into what ABC Family’s president Michael Riley refers to as the network’s “triple-threat” are Switched at Birth and The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Needless to say, teen drama is proving to be very beneficial to the cable network.

? Season 3 of Pretty Little Liars is set to premiere Summer 2012. Meanwhile, the second part of Season 2 premieres January 2nd.
