Silverman Saunters Over To VMAs

History is riddled with stories of girls turning boys against their comrades. Winter: 1966. John Lennon meets Yoko Ono. Within three years Yoko implodes the greatest rock band of all time. Spring: A lot of years B.C. Adam meets Eve. Eve turns Adam against his best friend, God, and they are forever banished from the Garden of Eden. Fall: 2004. My best friend, Jason, meets a worthless harlot. She briefly forces him against me until he becomes the antithesis of fun. When will the madness stop?

Thankfully, in some beautiful blunder, Jesus accidentally made a small percentage of cool-chicks. You probably remember at least one of them. She hung out with you in high school and constantly impressed you with her well-developed opinions, strikingly unpolitically correct humor, and mellow demeanor. Dazzling, wasn’t it? Probably the most famous and strikingly gorgeous cool-chick is Sarah Silverman. For years, she has aroused comedy-hungry audiences with her own brand of edgy, no-boundaries humor.

Last year, Comedy Central executives appeased fans of the comedienne by awarding her a pilot. They were soon pleasantly surprised with the highest premiere ratings in over three years. Add this to her impressive resume of scene stealing performances in School Of Rock, Way Of The Gun, and There’s Something About Mary and you nearly have a televised Sarah Silverman take-over. It now appears her juggernauting status will continue to rise.

Zap2It.com is reporting that MTV has snatched up the gifted wordsmith to host the ‘2007 Video Music Awards’, or the VMAs as hipsters and industry insiders call them. I have to be honest, I haven’t watched the award show in about five years. Why? Because it’s usually two hours of Gwen Stefani and Fergie sauntering around in ridiculous clothing (or lack thereof) while sixteen year old fanboys scream about how Fall Out Boy is God’s gift to the Earth. That being said, Sarah Silverman may actually inspire me to tune in this year. Her wit should spice up the lame broadcast, and besides, I’ll have plenty of opportunities as MTV invariably reruns this mess at least twice daily for a month.
