Old Spice Guy Gets NBC Talent Deal

“Look at your man, now back to me, now back to your man, now back to me...I’m on a horse.” With just a few ridiculously well-written words and a smarmy stare that cuts right through the screen, Isaiah Mustafa took his relatively unknown career and transformed himself into something so utterly stupid, but yet so likeable. He became the Old Spice, I’m on a Horse Guy. Now, according to Variety, he’s taken that little thirty second spot and turned it into a talent deal with NBC. That’s a nice little jump for a guy whose previous big roles were as “Cleveland Cop” in Days of Our Lives and “Team Leader” on Castle.

Grace Wu, NBC’s Universal casting executive vice president (try fitting that on a business card) said Mustafa would audition for spots on a number of NBC’s well established shows after a couple of pilot ideas didn’t really work out. I guess none of them involved Mustafa being on a horse.

Mustafa also intimated that other networks were after him, but he chose eventually chose NBC because of its strength in comedy. Here’s hoping he turns up as a new salesman in The Office. They could use some new laughs.
