TV Recap: Big Brother 10 - Week 3 Eviction

Thank you Keesha for being in the Big Brother house this year if only to give Julie Chen the opportunity to say the word “hooters” on live television. Things were shaken up a bit in the Big Brother house this week, and not just because of the earthquake.

Can we talk about Jesse for a minute? Cocky Jesse, who mouths the words “You’re going bye-bye” to Libra. Jessie, who calls Jerry “Father Time” and makes fart noises at him. And what was up with him pulling his shirt off when they were all outside just after the earthquake? I’m not a believer that you have to be in excellent physical shape to win Big Brother (take a look at the previous winners) but why did the houseguests gun to get Angie out when Jessie was being such a total jackass this week? For him to act that arrogant while on the block was just foolish and they let him get away with it.

The houseguests were considering teaching Jessie a lesson by giving him the boot but in the end, they stuck with the plan and evicted Angie. Angie put up a good effort and her pre-vote speech might have caused some of the houseguests to reconsider their vote but it’s doubtful anyone wanted to step away from the herd, lest they not win HoH tonight and end up putting a target on themselves. I’m disappointed. Despite not being too fond of her alliance, I liked Angie and would’ve liked to see how she did in the game had she been given the chance to stick around. Jessie on the other hand, is entertaining in his own way but I definitely don’t want to see him win this thing.

Jerry ended up in another shouting match this week after having what sounded to me like a pretty noncommittal conversation with Angie about her chances of staying in the house. It seemed to me from what he said, he was just trying to tell her that nothing is set in stone and that things are always changing in the house. For whatever reason, Michelle, who overheard part of the conversation, took that to mean that Jerry thinks Angie is staying. She recanted this to Keesha, who was in the HoH room with Jessie at the time. Angie later told Michelle that Jerry said Michelle, Memphis and Jessie were acting like they were running the house. Michelle took this as a personal attack, as though Jerry had said something horrible and blew up at him. Screaming followed. Honestly, how many times are people going to yell at this guy? The womanizing thing I can see being taken badly by Memphis but Michelle totally overreacted.

Tonight we found out who America chose to be America’s Player for one week. As I suspected, Dan was chosen. Given the way the house is divided, I’m thinking there are only a couple of people who might be able to handle the tasks without drawing too much attention to themselves. Neither Dan nor Jerry seem to be solidly allied with anyone from what I can tell. Though Dan’s been doing a fair job of keeping his head down since he was on the block, having to push for someone else’s eviction might draw some unwanted attention but I’m hoping he’ll pull it off.

Tonight’s HoH competition is an endurance comp, which means we won’t know who wins until the live feed reports start coming in. Generally the more physically fit houseguests tend to do well in these so I’m thinking we could see Michelle, Jessie or Memphis take this one but who knows?
