Tom Everett Scott Signs On To NBC's Bloodline Pilot
Tom Everett Scott has landed a big role in NBC’s Bloodline pilot. He’s set to play a doctor and the father of a teen whose ancestors include hired killers. Scott’s character, Dr. Christopher Benson, has a daughter with this bloodline thanks to one sexual interaction with a patient years ago--talk about an indiscretion coming back to bite you in the butt.
Bloodline is actually set to follow Dr. Benson’s daughter, Bird (played by The Nine Lives of Chloe King’s Skyler Samuels), who has a pretty tough life and must eventually fight her mother in a battle to the death to get back to having a more normal existence. This plotline sounds ridiculous, but it may be the perfect project for NBC to throw in its Thursday night at 10 p.m. death slot next season. Keep in mind that I’m not actually suggesting this is a good idea, but am assuming this is the best place to stick a project like Bloodline, although a show like Revolution could also stand to have another action-oriented drama to back it.
It should be noted the good doctor will fit in far more than just supplying some DNA to Bird. TV Line is reporting that he’ll kind of be his daughter’s fairy godmother, in a sense. He’ll take responsibility for cleaning up and helping the injured parties that Bird leaves behind. Additionally, Scott’s character will have a few run-ins with Bird’s adopted dad. Bloodline sounds like a wacky one, but we’ll be sure to let you know if this one moves forward at NBC.
