USA's Political Animals Adds Adrian Pasdar And Sets Premiere Date

USA’s buzzed-about six-episode series Political Animals has added one more to the already stellar cast, and has set a premiere date for July. The latest to hop aboard the drama is The Lying Game’s Adrian Pasdar, who will have a recurring role in the series. He joins an impressive cast for what’s looking like a winner for USA.

Deadline has word that USA has given Political Animals a July 15th premiere date, putting it in a Sunday evening timeslot at 10 pm. The series, from Greg Berlanti and Laurence Mark, perked up plenty of ears when Sigourney Weaver was cast in the leading role – her first starring role on television. She will play Secretary of State Elaine Barrish, who also happens to be recently divorced from the former President and fresh off a defeat in an attempt to run for her ex-husband’s seat in the Oval Office. The cast also has Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn singed on as Elaine’s mother, a former Vegas showgirl who likes a drink and speaks her mind.

Also in the cast are Jimmy Wolk and Sebastian Stan as Barrish’s two sons who are polar opposites. Carla Gugino, and Robert Bart and Dan Futterman rounding out the cast.

Adrian Pasdar, who also appeared in Heroes, was added today as the premiere date was announced. We’re likely nearing the end of casting news for this one; it sounds like all of the major roles are accounted for. Now we have to wait for July to see if this well-cast series lives up to the hype.
