Uma Thurman To Guest Star In NBC's Smash

The cast of NBC’s upcoming midseason drama Smash already has a lot going for it, with names like Katharine McPhee, Anjelica Huston, and Debra Messing set to star. Now it looks like another big name is joining the series for multiple episodes as a guest star.

According to Deadline, Uma Therman is joining Smash for a five-episode guest starring arc. The series is described as a musical drama that follows the start of a production of a Broadway musical based on Marilyn Monroe’s life. Katharine McPhee stars as a young aspiring actress who’s hoping to achieve fame in the big city. Thurman is set to play a successful and “somewhat difficult” movie star who’s toying with the idea of starring in the production.

It certainly sounds like a fun role for Thurman as she sounds like she may be an obstacle for the other characters (assuming she’s after the part they want) and the word “difficult” implies unlikable, which could also be interesting to see.

Also on the horizon for Thurman is the film Eloise in Paris. And down the line, we may also see her in another Kill Bill movie, but it’s looking like that’ll be years off. Meanwhile, Smash is set to premiere on NBC on February 6, 2012.
