Wrestler Crush Found Dead

Eddy Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Bam Bam Bigelow, The Big Boss Man, Ravishing Rick Rude, Mr. Perfect, Owen Hart, The British Bulldog, Miss Elizabeth, Bad News Brown, Earthquake, and now Crush. I grew up idolizing all of these guys, and now they, along with dozens of other, are dead much to early. Professional wrestling is a strange combination of alpha male personalities, rampant drug abuse, long hours, and hard knocks. Unfortunately, that concoction proves poisonous for a large percentage of grapplers, and something needs to be done.

Details are still a little hazy, but E! Online is reporting that the wife of retired superstar Brian ‘Crush’ Adams found the former tag team champion unconscious. She called the paramedics, but the medical response team was unable to resuscitate the fallen warrior. The police have been reporting that the body contained no obvious wounds, injuries, or physical problems. An autopsy was conducted yesterday, but those findings are yet to be released.

‘Crush’ is probably best remembered as 1/3 of one of the most feared and unstoppable tag teams in WWE history: Demolition. Along with Ax and Smash, he was able to defend the titles on numerous occasions, culminating in a loss to The Hart Foundation. After the trio’s breakup, Adams had a memorable feud with Macho Man Randy Savage that included a vicious falls count anywhere match at Wrestlemania X. Eventually, Adams made his way to the WCW and had moderate success before embarking on a derailed boxing career that was prematurely ended due to a shoulder injury. He remained life-long friends with Macho Man and even worked as his bodyguard for a short time.

Brian ‘Crush’ Adams was only 43. He’s survived by his wife and millions of adoring fans. I think I speak for everyone when I say that he will truly be missed.
