If you’re a fan of Zach Galifianakis, and/or his web series Between Two Ferns, you’ll want to tune in to Comedy Central on May 6th a half hour prior to the Comedy Awards to catch the first ever TV episode of the series. And even if you’re not a fan of Zach, you might want to tune in anyway, because some big names from the comedy world and beyond are set to appear in the episode.

Scott Aukerman, who produces Between Two Ferns shared the word on his podcast today that Galifianakis did an episode of his series especially for Comedy Central to air before the awards show. The episode will feature appearances from Comedy Centrals’ own Jon Stewart, as well as Tina Fey and Virgin mogul Sir Richard Branson. The episode will be titled Between Two Ferns: A Fairy Tale of New York. The Funny or Die podcast has seen some big names already, including Will Ferrell, Bruce Willis, Steve Carell, and Ben Stiller, but this is a big move to TV for Galifianakis. Could it be a sign that Comedy Central might want to pick up the show as a regular series? Just conjecture on my part, but you never know. Comedy Central has already been looking to bring another web series, Drunk History to television, so there could be a trend forming.

Between Two Ferns has been airing online since 2008, with episodes every few months. A move to TV could make it a more regular gig, not that Zach Galigianakis is bored – he has several projects on the way including The Hangover III.
