FX Grants Louie An Extended Break Until Spring Of 2014

There’s good news and bad news for fans of FX’s Louie. The good news is that fans of Louis C.K.’s TV program will be getting a fourth season on the network. However, unfortunately, that fourth season won’t be coming anytime soon. Louie has closed shop until 2014.

television
Louie Watch: Season 3, Episode 13 - New Year's Eve

Louie closes out a roller coaster of a third season with its best episode since Parker Posey’s tour de force performance early in the season. The episode’s opening act is one of the best C.K. has ever put together as he takes us through the nightmares of being a parent at Christmas time.

television
Louie Watch: Season 3, Episode 12 - The Late Show, Part 3

Louie closes out its not very epic three part episode, “Late Show”, and the slow build up pays off for the most part. I didn’t know C.K. and Letterman had a history. After writing on the show, C.K. was unofficially banned from the show for 15 years.

television
Louie Watch: Season 3, Episode 11 - The Late Show Part 2

Louie spends another week moving the pieces for what is sure to be a pretty great episode to close out the show’s longest arc. The show was more successful comedicly and narratively than Part 1, a couple weeks back, as we dive right into the training process for being a late night host. Leading Louie on this journey is a Mr. Doll (pronounced Doll) and he is played wonderfully annoyed by director David Lynch.

television
Louie Watch: Season 3, Episode 10 - The Late Show Part 1

Louie gives us Part 1 of a three part story arc this week and I don’t really know what to say about it. It is exactly that, Part 1 of a bigger story, and until we see how it all plays out I don’t know what there is to really say. The episode consisted of four scenes basically, Louie telling stand up, Louie getting bumped up to the top guest on the tonight show, Louie waking up to news of a meeting and Louie having said meeting with a Les Moonves type at CBS.

television
Louie Season 3 : Will Louie Get Bumped By Tom Cruise?

What does Tom Cruise have to do with Louis CK? Based on the preview for next Thursday's episode of Louie, his presence on a certain talk show may prohibit Louie from doing a bit of national television stand-up comedy. Spoilers ahead!

television
Louie Watch: Season 3, Episode 9 - Looking for Liz; Lilly Changes

Louie gets its mojo back with another half baked idea that works because of its female lead and a brilliant long gag with a perfect pay off.

television
Louie Watch: Season 3, Episode 8 - Dad

Louie returns with yet another sub-par episode this week and has me questioning the series for the first time in it’s run. The episode revolves around Louie being confronted by his uncle, a very good F. Murray Abraham, for not visiting Louie’s father in over two years. This leads Louie to physically respond (vomiting, hives) to the possibility of an impending meeting with his father, but he decides to head up to Boston anyway to try and see his Dad.

television
Louie Watch: Season 3, Episode 7 - Ikea/Piano Lesson

Louie might have given us my least favorite episode of the season this year as all the shorts, 3 of them, seemed rather half baked.

television
Louie Season 3, Episode 7 - Louie Looks Back

Louis CK has been doing stand up for a while, and the clip we have to show you from this week's episode of Louie is evidence of that. What does the comedian think as he watches a replay of one of his old stand-up routines?

television
Louie Watch: Season 3, Episode 6 - Barney/Never

Louie is back to its shorts format that we are most accustomed too this week and C.K. delivers a couple of quality gems. Our first story revolves around Louie and a stranger (Robin Williams) meeting at an ex-club owner’s, Barney, funeral and the two end up on a pretty random adventure. The awkwardness that arises between the two early on is brilliant not because they don’t know each other, but neither party knows how one another feels about Barney.

television
Louie Watch: Season 3, Episode 5 - Daddy's Girlfriend Part 2

C.K. has really out done himself this week, making this probably my favorite episode of the show to date. As the second part of a two-parter, we were introduced to Posey as she helped Louie look for a book for his daughter and he got up the guts to ask her out on a date. This episode is that date, and it is incredible

television
Louie Watch: Season 3, Episode 4 - Daddy's Girlfriend Part 1

Louie takes a look at love this week and while there aren't a lot of revelations on the topic it is all really funny. First up is the very funny Maria Bamford who is Louie's first victim at an attempted relationship after his daughters grill him over his love life. Besides being impossibly cute, as always, the daughters also have a good point; Louie hasn't really had a normal relationship over the course of the show’s run.

television
Louie Watch: Season 3, Episode 3 - Miami

Louie gives us a wonderful little slice of life episode as we follow an unlikely friendship around the heart of the "real" Miami.

television
Louie: Season 2 [Blu-Ray Review]

The world is full of immoral people who commit terrible acts against nature and their fellow man, usually due to some archaic belief rather than as a result of rational thinking. I know these things. (I read a book.) But when I ask someone if they watch FX’s Louie, and they say, “No,” these are the people I want to diligently punch into a tear-filled submission.

television
Louie Preview: Season 3 - Miami

How do you follow an excellent guest appearance by Melissa Leo? If you're Louis C.K., you go to the beach. Of the first handful of episodes of the FX comedy series' third season, next Thursday night's episode, titled "Miami" may very well be my favorite. The preview gives us a look at what Louie is in for as he heads out of town for a work-related adventure.

television
Louie Watch: Season 3, Episode 2 - Telling Jokes/Set Up

Louie picks up its game quite a bit in episode 2 of the season and features a wonderful guest turn by Melissa Leo. The opening bit is an incredibly cute and endearing moment at the dinner table featuring Louie’s always reliable daughters. The sweet back and forth’s between father and daughters is a wonderful slice of life look at the simple nature of telling a joke and how age can affect ones perspective on what is funny.

television
Louie Preview: Season 3 - Strawberries, Beach Bodies And Melissa Leo

Louie is back! Louis C.K.'s fantastic comedy series returned last Thursday night with a new episode, and having seen the first handful of episodes, I can say with certainty that Season 3 only gets better from here. The clips ahead offer a small hint of that.

FX's Thursday Night Ratings Rock But Anger Management Tops The Heap

Anger Management, as expected, led the night on the network, pulling 5.47 million in total viewers during last night’s season premiere at 9 p.m. ET. FX has been great with advertising for the series and Sheen’s fame also likely led viewers to the network for the first record. The next challenge will be maintaining viewers in the coming weeks.

television
Louie Watch: Season 3 Premiere - Something Is Wrong

Louie leads off its third season with an average episode for the show, but is a nice little assembly of three slices of Louie’s life; women, New York, and his own stupidity. Louie’s stupidity affects every element of the episode and C.K. plays it up nicely for some solid comedic effect. Whether he is just not capable of saying what he should, buying a motor cycle, dating an obnoxious woman, or trying to figure out NYC street signs (well maybe that one isn’t his fault) Louie’s dim nature gets him into a heap of trouble.
